    Post Spouse Visa and Baby

    Hello Everyone:

I am married to a Chinese Citizen with HKG ROA (my wife is Chinese born in HKG and currently has AZ*** on her HKPIC). I am a foreign national. We are planning to return in the next few months and have our baby in HKG.

    My three questions are:

    1. Will our child have Chinese Citizenship with HKG ROA?
    2. How soon can our child get the birth certificate, then a HKSAR passport?
    3. How easy it for me to apply and be granted dependent visa?

In regards to 3, it's really so I can stay in HKG for maybe up to 6 months until we are all fit to travel overseas again. I am allowed to stay in HKG for up to 3 months w/o a visa. But I would like to avoid leaving the border and coming back if possible. And I understand that with a dependent visa (Spousal) would give me some work rights.

My concern is that we currently live/work overseas. We will have sufficient funds to live in HKG w/o working for about a year, and can show proof from a bank in HKG. But will HKG immi dept frown on this, and reject my application?

Any experience/comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Yoshi

Birth Cert, usually in a few days

Would be helpful if you've read the faqs on the immd site. A good starting point --- The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region - Immigration Department

In general, if your spouse is a permanent resident, getting a dependant's visa is a no brainer - takes about 4 to 8 weeks depending on how complete your first application is.
