I think I get the idea that no one on geoexpat has ever been through an appeals process - anyone want to comment on how it goes / was?

Applying for 3*'s is always a crapshoot unless you have sufficient documentation. I know someone who was born in HK, but was born with the help of midwives and not in a hospital so she did not have an official birth certificate. She could no provide enough proof that that she is qualified in 3 stars. Her sister was in the same situation but she managed to get her school records when she was in elementary school and she got 3*'s.
One of my co-workers was born in Vietnam from 2 Chinese parents. However, her dad passed away so she can't provide proof that she can be ROA.
At this risk of posting into different threads, this court appeals seems to shed light on a case where someone born abroad was not deemed to have Chinese citizenship, but in a court appeal, this was overturned. Despite reading it several times quite carefully, I can't quite follow the logic! TseyiuhonCAeng
In this case, Yiu Hon had never renounced his Chinese nationality. He was a Chinese national according to the Nationality Law of the PRC and the Explanation.
By the way, for a full picture of that story, please go through HCAL001240/2000 before reading CACV000351/2001.
Post your question here if you still cannot follow the logic.
