how can I stay longer than 3 mths!

    Hi Guys

I have read quite a few threads however can't seem to find a questions directly related to this one.

I am an Aussie and can stay in HK as a visitor for 3 months at a time. My QUESTION IS: If I leave the country for a day (and then return) will this allow me to stay in HK for another 3 months?

Does Macau count as leaving the country? I would hate to duck over to Macau and get caught out!

Ahhh please help any advice, website links etc would be appreciated

    xxx

Yes Macau is counted as out of the country. Yes you can get another 3 months by going on a day trip to Macau. However, this is entirely at the discretion of the immigration officer and so there are no guarantees - you may be given a week to get out of Hong Kong.

go to macau and stay the night there and come back the next day, make a proper trip out of it, dont just go for a few hours and come back is my opinion.

Yes you can have a day trip into Macau and come back into Hong Kong all less than 23 hours (more if u want)

However, getting into Hong Kong may be more difficult then, they will notice if you keep doing it. they're not stupid and may catch on what you're doing. I have heard any more than 3 times they will notice and take you in.

It's definitely not a permanent solution. You can do it 3 times (maybe thats all you need) but if not, start thinking of a more permanent solution. marriage to a local??
