Hi All,

I have just been granted a employment visa for 12 months, this had led to a few questions:

1. Is it standard that employment visas are only issued for 12 months at a time?
2. How easy is it to 'reapply' for the employment visa in 12 months time?
3. I am getting married in June, so that my Polish wife (to be) and her daughter can move over here. Is it going to be a problem applying for dependent visa's for them?

1. Yes in the first instance. Renewals are in two (or occasionally three) year chunks.

2. Easy - you just apply for an extension, and if your circumstances are unchanged then it will be granted automatically. Transferring to a different employer is more like a new application process.

I would qualify that by adding it depends on the length of your contract. If you re-sign a one year contract, you will only get a one year visa renewal.

Sorry - yes, that is correct. What I described is the case for "open-ended" employment contracts.

I am wondering how can I sponsor someone (British) a working visa and more detail would be great. I.e cost, time for the wait and any special requirement too?

How long did it take you to get the visa issued? I just submitted mine. They say 4 weeks?
