    long stay visa query

i hold an indian passport and i plan a stay at honk kong for 3 months..
i can manage a sponsor.. my query is
    a) is the sponsor supposed to a permanent resident or a foreign national employed in hong kong become my sponsor
b)i am essentially visiting. do i need to have a more solid reason to stay that long??
    c) what other options do i have as regards to the type of visa i should apply for in order to stay for 3 months

    regards

    A) Your sponsor since you are not going to be employed must be someone who is willing to get you a dependant visa. They must be a Hong Kong ID Card holder (Temp or Perm) You have three choices:
    1. Spouse
    2. Parents (If you are under 18)
    3. Children (If you are over 65)

    B) You are welcome to visit as long as you are not doing any work or study at all.

    C) You could try to apply for an extended visitor visa, but be prepared to show solid financial proof and have good explanations as to why it takes you 3 months to travel through Hong Kong. I think a dependent visa is silly to apply for as you won't be moving here.

I don't think a temp ID holder can sponsor a relative over 65 for a dependent visa.

ur sponsor can apply a visit visa for u prior to your arrival. Generally HK immigrations gives 1 month visit visa . Then when u arrive take the 14 days visa at the airport and then go Macao or China and when u come back get the 1 month visa stamped after that u need to go to immigration for further extension. That way u can atleast stay for 45 days without a problem

macao is free like hk u can go in the morning and they give u the visa at the immigration and then u can come back the same day to HK.

For china U need to get visa from India . I am not sure but I think they have started issuing border visas for Indian passport holder at the border. But u can check older threads about China visa on the border.

Regarding 1 month HK visit visa. It depends upon your sponsor what papers he has and what reason is he showing for your visit. It all depends upon the Immigration officer.

We know people who have done this for Indian family visiting for longer period.

Is your husband coming here to work? Has he applied for / got an employment visa? If so he applies for a dependent visa for you once you are married. You can not apply for your own dependent visa. If he is not working and on a visitor visa as well then this is not possible.
