Working Visa is Expiring - need advice

    hello,

my work visa is expiring on may 15 and so i will need to leave HK and come back on a tourist visa. I will go on a 3d/2n holiday before coming back to hk. in case immigration gives me a hard time, is there a good general excuse i can use to persuade immigration to grant me tourist visa?

    thanks!

    Have you applied for renewal?

Lots of people move in and out of HK while renewals are being processed. All you have to do is tell them that your visa is being renewed and you'll be picking it up in the next day or two.

In that case it probably depends what nationality you are. If from a rich western nation (USA, UK, Aus, NZ etc) I doubt you will have a problem for the first trip. Or second .. If you are Philippine, Thai, Indonesian etc then possibly more of a problem.

In that case I don't believe it should be a problem for you to re-enter HK on a tourist visa at least once...Are you planning to do the visa-run two-step for the next while in order to remain here? Because that might raise some alarms with you having already had a work visa (expired) in your passport...

i only need to renew it once so i should be fine then, esp. since i have a usa passport.
