Can I apply Dependent Visa without job in HK?

    Hello,

I plan on moving to HK but would like to apply dependent visas for my wife and child. I currently still working in Canada so I don't have a job yet in HK. I have purchased a flat for us to live in and can support my family comfortably. I have HKID with ROA. Is it REQUIRED that I have an employment contract in HK before I can apply dependent visas for my family?

    Thanks,

    Peter

No, it's not required. You simply have to show that you can support them well above subsistence level. If you already have an apartment here, and can show a substantial amount of liquid assets (held over a reasonable period so they can see it isn't a temporary transfer of money) then you should be OK. I'm not sure exactly what "substantial" means. $10M would obviously be fine, $100K probably not.

    Hi PDLM,

You are always quick and helpful in this forum Thank You. I am not willing to give up my current job without knowing that my family can get HK dependent visas/HKID. I wonder what the "resonable period" would be, you think 1 year is resonable?

I'm not sure - for a Capital Investment Entrant Visa the requirement is two years.

For the definitive answer, email [email protected] with details of your specific case. They are pretty responsive.
