Smile Applying for a HKG ID

Hi all. I got married in HKG last Friday and I am now back in Switzerland with my HKG Chinese Wife. By the way, we did the whole traditional thing - it was the most wonderful wedding I could imagine (says me as a male).

I wonder now what the situation would be in terms of me getting a HKG ID card. We are not going to live in HKG for the next 1 to year and and a half as I want my wife to see all the seasons here in Switzerland and to experience the life around here (even though she already spent 2 times 3 months around here).

Can I apply for an ID even though I am not in HKG? If not, can I apply for it during my holidays? Do I need to submit evidence of no convictions? I have one because of some traffic stuff but that will disappear in 9 months but if I can sort out the ID earlier, it would make me feel ging happy.

Also, as married to a HKG Chinese woman, I would have no issues with finding work, I mean, I wouldn't need a sponsor for a working permit right?

Sorry for all the questions and thank you for your help. Let me know if you want to see some wedding pictures :-) very happy to share this and if anyone wants to know more about this kind of wedding, let me know, I became an expert over the last 15 months :-)

    Thank you :-)

You need to get a dependent visa through your wife in order to get an ID card.

But if you are not living in Hong Kong, there is really no reason at all to get one - nor would I think they'd let you get one unless you are resident there (unless you had right of abode or right to land).

heja...you are right...there is no rush really as we will stay here and I will work some more time where I am to earn some money...whenever we feel ready to move to HKG we can take things step by step so there is no rush...gives me enough time to research the subject myself

thanks for now, speak elsewhere soon.
