Smile China-born US citizen obtaining Hong Kong ID

Hi, I was a naturalized US citizen and still have my expired China passport to prove that I was born China citizen. I want to get a Hong Kong ID to make my trips to Hong Kong and China easier. Could you be so kind to advise whether/how long this might take?

    Much appreciated.

You can only get a Hong Kong ID card if you have ties to Hong Kong, that is either having right of abode, right to land or are currently resident there under some sort of visa.

btw, i dont think the HK ID card is meant to be used as an 'express' card to go between hk and china. Why give up your chinese citizenship when you have this frequent urgency to be in china?

Perhaps it's because it's kind of hard to get around anywhere else with a Chinese passport.

    you can't have it all.

i would personally like to have a EU passport that also allows me to reside in the US and Australia, plus HK ID card and a home return permit, visa free entry to north korea, but i will only pay tax in hong kong, hide my money in an islamic bank in switzerland. oh yeah, and be a pirate in somalia.

    sorry. all irrelevant. its friday

Nice plan, thundacatchergo. Thanks for the brainstorming and advise, Friday-style or not. I am going to apply for a multi-entry visa to China and call it a day. Its easier.

    Happy Friday everyone!
