Sharing of information between Airlines and HK Immigration

    Hi,

Does anyone know if the airlines give passenger name lists to HK Immigration?

The reason I ask is because I am a non-Chinese HK Permanent Resident and due to travel back to HK soon but the name on my new passport is different (married, taking my husband's surname). I do not want to go the hassle of having to change my HKID card when I return but equally I do not want to get in any trouble with HK Immigration for coming in and out on an HKID card with a surname different to what is on my passport.

Do HK immigration have access to and compare names on flight passenger lists of particular airlines flying into HK with those of incoming permanent HKID Cardhorders and realise and make note the discrepancies anyway?

Any insight would be helpful. Thanks

Take the time to update your HKID card with your changed particulars, including your new name and marital status. (it is the law)
How can I update my registered particulars which are changed after the registration of my identity card?

    Registration of Persons Offices

Make sure you bring your marriage certificate along for immigration to view.

How would Immigration know whats on your passport? The airline will check your passport. Even if that information gets passed to immigration how will they know it is you? The surname is different, and you must have a new passport number if your name has changed. The only way they would know is if you presented both at the same time. If you are using E-Channel it would be impossible for them to know.

Just get your name changed as soon as you return.
