    HKPIC Overseas replacement...

I was at Immigration Tower the other day to get my HKPIC Overseas replaced to a standard version.

Here are some facts and experiences:

    1. You can use the HK resident lane (airport) in entering HK, even if my HKPIC do not have "***" markings.

    2. At the Immigration Tower, you still have to queue up even if you have a online appointment.

    3. New picture and fingerprints are taken there.

    4. 2 short interviews by immigration officers, to verify your personal data, and residency status.

    5. Since I'll be leaving HK before my new HKPIC is ready, I was instructed to use my HKSAR passport to pass immigration control.

    6. Finished everything 1.5 hours.

    7. My relative will FedEx my new HKPIC in two weeks.

    This concludes my HKPIC hurdle.

    Merry Christmas to all!

Yep I think that's pretty much how it works!

It's odd to not see a question in a new thread here!

To be more specific, you can use the Permanent Residents line holding any type of HK Permanent ID card. Non-permanent residents have separate Residents lines.

The only reason I had the HKPIC Overseas replaced is to get the Home Return Permit. Now, getting that is another story... Will post more details later tonight.

    Time to go shopping
