Residency Status - Work Visa Holder

    Hi,

I hold a Philippine passport but currently hold a work visa. Am I considered a resident of Hong Kong SAR? The French consulate does not issue visas for non-residents, so I wanted to see if my status is that of resident.

I guess to be more specific, is there a difference between a permanent resident (right of abode???) and just a resident?

Appreciate any inputs you can give.

    Thanks,

If what you have is an Employment Visa with a duration of more than 6 months then yes you are a resident. There's no difference for French/Schengen visas between non-permanent and permanent (non-citizen) residents.

If what you have is an FDH visa then it's harder. If you have a 3 month Entertainer visa then I'm not sure.

Thanks. I've worked for the same company since Sep-08 so I should be considered a resident.

    Appreciate your reply.
