I'd recommend a face to face meeting with immigration as a last ditch resort. Not the type of meeting which happens across a counter.. but with a senior officer who has the ability to say "yes".

Perhaps the lawyer can recommend a few names who they can meet with.
Interesting, I'd be surprised if they would do that on an individual case but I shall pass on the hope.

    Hi!

I'm currently having my own visa issues, and went to see a lawyer but he's really expensive... (5k an hour...) and I have a feeling i'm not getting the best advice in the world, as he's telling me to avoid immigration as much as possible and hopefully they will forget about my case. Does anyone have a great lawyer they can recommend?

    Thanks!
