    reasonable budget for accomodation?

    Hi everyone,

I am moving to Hong Kong from France and I have absolutely NO idea about the living cost in HK, is it more expensive than Paris?

my salary is 30,000 HKD/mo, what should be the reasonable budget for accomodation, and what should it look like?

    Thank you
    Regards,

I would say for the most part it would be more expensive, unless you are talking about retail space.

It all depends on location and facilities.

I recommend that you goto some 3rd party websites such as 過萬香港樓盤資料, 綜合各區地產代理放盤 - GoHome.com.hk or talk to some agents and they will give you an idea of what to expect. They will also give you an idea of how far your money will go.

    thanks!

I see in HK the accommodation is more expensive and the apartment is usually smaller, but I thought the living cost HK would be less expensive than Paris!

Actually I checked this website and I found Prima Villa as a decent choice and not too expensive. But I don't know if it is reasonable to spend 11000 per month for an apartment of 40 or 50 M2 in Shatin? And ss Sha Tin a nice neighborhood? By the way, my work place will near the Kowloon Tong MTR station.

And how much will be the bill for electricity and water for a single person?

When are you coming to HK?

My friend is going to leave Hong Kong this summer but he rented a very nice flat which has a roof top in Wanchai near Hopewell Center. His contract is until early next year. He would like to find someone who would continue his contract. He already discussed with the landlord and he's ok with someone taking over the flat.

It takes around 20 mins by MTR from Wanchai to Kowloon Tong for you. Wanchai is an area which is very convenient for you to meet people besides work. You can go out at night to LKF or Wanchai Bar area within a short period of time. if you are interested in the flat, I can send you the pictures. The rent is only HK$8500 per month. You can contact me through my e-mail: [email protected]

The electricity is around HKD 400 a month during summer cause the air con is on. In winter, it is around HKD 300 a month. Water is around HKD150 a month, depends on how many showers you take a day.....
