    Question So many neighbourhoods

    Hi!

My family and I are relocating to HK in the fall. child is going to HKIS. Husband and I will both be working in Central.

Have gotten tons of info on HK Island, (hongkonghomes.com offers a great map) and understand that there are many different neighbourhoods to choose from. Wondering if anyone can offer community type info such as; brief description of area, commute times to central, facilities such as shopping, banking etc.

    Repulse Bay
    Pokfulam
    Deep Water Bay
    Mid Levels

Also I am interested to learn what ex pats do about banking institutions and any tax implications of working there. I am a Brit, with a green card, working for an American company in our HK office but, only performing work and tasks for our US based offices. I am essentially just being housed in HK as a favour to me b/c that is where my husband will be for the next three years. So paying income taxzes back in the US. Don't know if it make a differnece but, I understand that our travel and stay in HK will be under a diplomatic passport. I figure it will be costly to maintain my american bank accounts but, wondered what others have experienced.

    any info./insight greatly appreciated.
