    Thumbs up Advice on apartment

    Hi,

We are planning to move to HK from New Zealand and my office is located in Shenzhen. Please advice ideal location to find an apartment. My budget is not beyond 20K and we just need a three bed room apartment. As I am expected to travel every day into China, I would love to live very close to the metro station. I understand I have to use KCRC train service. Any advice is most welcome.

You'll find a fair few good apartment complexes ... gohome.com.hk will give you a good indication of what is available.

The worst part of your commute will be the border crossing. Also have to realize the closer you are to the border, the fewer expats.

A fair number of people in this situation end up getting a small place in Shenzhen where they can crash, rather than commute everyday.

Try searching the forum for Gold Coast. It might not be the ideal place for you but quite regularly the threads relate to people in your situation who are considering the Gold Coast as an option.

Good option if you don't have a family. Had lunch with a couple of guys who recommended living in SZ. It is possible that SZ still suffers from an old (bad) reputation. Where the ferry comes in is supposed to be very nice, as is the Wal-Mart compound.

Nowaday, I found some expat like you will try to live in place call "Pat Heung" in Yuen Long. They rent places called village type house, which definitely provide you pretty good space. Rent is cheap. If you had a budget of HK$ 20K, you can probably go for the whole building upto 3 levles. each level typically have 700 sq.ft. With car-parking space.

People travel to Shenzhen by shuttle bus at the "Kam Sheung Road" KCRC station. cost not more than $30 per trip. And is only 20 mins journey to the boarder. And from Pat Heung is only 30-40 mins bus ride to Central.

    Hi,

Thanks for all the tips. I will certainly keep in mind all points suggested by you. I cannot live in Shenzhen to due immigration rules and my wife will be living with me in HK. Hence, I have to move to HK every day to meet 183 days requirement. Thanks once again.

    With best regards,

    Hi

Well I live in Palm Springs in Yuen Long. The complex here is absolutely beautiful with birds and trees. There are approx 900 individual houses here and a few expat (not much). One house each with 3 bedrooms and 1-2 garages for each house. Size from around 1,300sf to 2000-2,100sf. Rental around HK$11K to $25K. So with your budget of $20K, you will find be able to find a decent one. From here to the 24hours yellow buses to Shenzhen is a 5mins drive. Check it out, it is a really nice place to stay in unless you like to live in apartments.

    Cheers!
