    apartment questions

so ok. i am officially going to be working in ap lei chau (hurrah! i get to stay in hk!), and have almost much decided i don't want to live there. here are my questions:
-to live alone or with other people? i'm at a point in my life where i'm leaning towards the 'alone,' but can anyone share advantages/disadvantages of either choice?
-to live near work, near friends, near entertainment, near church...?
-anyone have a good real estate agent they want to lend me?
-what do i REALLY need to have close by?
-who's going to come to my visa aquisition/housewarming party when i find a house to warm?

Hi there. I am officially moving into my own personal space on Thursday in Kennedy Town. I think it is a brilliant place to stay as it combines the old rustic charm of HK together with the modernity of HK as well. (A little contradictory right?) You might want to consider KT cos it is really convenient. But I think it is a bit of a travel from your place.

Flat sharing: a advice you not to for a start until you know someone well enough. You could end up living with a slob and that is the last thing you want after a long day's of work.

As for the party bit, I am in whenever there is one!!!

If you do end up finding a place to live alone, chances are it's going to be pretty small, so if space is an issue for you, you may need to look at that. Of course, flat sharing could be just as bad if not worse.

Personally, I would say that if you can get a place to yourself, do it. You'll get enough chance to interact with people, and having your own place will give you a bit of sanctuary at the end of the day.

And I'm definitely in for a party.

if you live in kennedytown the only bus to ap lei chau is the a10 airport bus which goes through wah fu and aberdeen and costs from ktown $10. or you can take 58 or 59 minibuses $4.80 to aberdeen and change to bus $3. travel time is around 30mins.

if you live alone you dont have to share and you have the freedom. if you live with other people you can share expenses. you would want close by supermarket but if you plan to spend over $400 each time parknshop can deliver. also laundry if youre not going to do washing at home.

living in ap lei chau is quite convenient. to go to cwb doesnt take long it would only be long if there was heavy traffic in the aberdeen tunnel during peak hours. you dont need to live near entertainment and if you live in ap lei chau theres night bus from central.

i'd suggest pokfulam area like chi fu?

i think you mentioned before you're budget is around 10 k, you can find a 700sq ft appartment for that price, or around 7.5k for 500sq ft.so u could afford to live alone. its a pretty nice area with a shopping centre by it for food/supermarket/mannings etc. quiet and fresh air away from the city, but 25 mins by bus to get to central/cwb. and ap lei chau is about 10 mins by bus.
