Cheap place to stay for 2-3 weeks?

We're two young professionals relocating to Hong Kong. We are looking for a place to stay for 3-4 weeks ASAP till we find nice apartments for ourselves. Does anybody know any apartments or hostel (private room) on HK island where we could stay for ~$4500. We don't need anything fancy, a twin room with wifi and some kind of office table. Or maybe if anybody is looking for short term flatmate...

Thanks for any kind of advice!

Nice apartment for HK$4500 a month? You are going to be in for a shock. You could get a place in a guesthouse for around that much. You could try YesInn

Obviously, the apartment budget is much bigger. We don't want to rush and make any long time contracts we might regrett later. 4,5k is just for 3wks at a basic place till we look around and settle in. We're currently staying in a hostel, but it's not the place to stay for 3 weeks. I already called to yesinn, but they're full.

Try the Wang Fat Hostel for something cheap and basic.

Read the tripadvisor reviews for Wang Fat - they are very mixed. You will get more choice if you are willing to cross the harbour into Kowloon.

    What is your immigration status?

It would seem you are relocating to Hong Kong to start some business?

You are partially right... but it's not the main reason. Right now I'm just a visitor... It takes time to incorporate and prepare all the paperwork and get the proper VISAs. That's I'm looking for something temporary and not rush into long term contract at first.
