    Month-by-month lease but not serviced

Hi all, this is a fantastic forum, thanks everyone for their great information.

Does anyone know of any accommodation in HK which is month-by-month lease but not serviced? Furnished is preferable. 1 person only, so studios are ok. Budget under 14K. Any area.

You can negotiate directly with a private landlord, although most would want a 6 month fixed contract at least, preferably 12 month, before it became one where either party just needs give one month's notice. I suppose with the serviced apartments you can request not to have the servicing and perhaps get a small discount. Often with serviced apartments, if you are willing to sign a longer contract you can get a cheaper monthly rate.

I would say very difficult to get this. Most landlords want 12 months minimum. Some will do 6 months but very rare. one month doubt very much.

I think really your best option is serviced apartment but still difficult as most want 6 months and then month by month. 14k will cover what you require especially in Kowloon.

Look for those private-run serviced apartments, I went to see one at Grand Promenade in Sai Wan Ho when I arrived. They are essentially normal apartments within your normal residential estate, rented out and serviced by private owners or their family (or maids) who often live within the same estate.

As others said, finding a normal apartment for 1 months terms would be rather difficult, but maybe you get lucky.

Thanks all. I found a couple of places that only service once a week - Yes in Space near Mong Kok and Urban Cube in Causeway Bay. They may be an option.

I didn't realise places allow month-by-month after the 6-12 month lease is finished, I thought they generally made you sign another long lease.

Some more weekly serviced apartments, in case anyone is interested: i-house, studiostudio, cityloft, cozy studios. All are on HK Island.
