Forkids....
When I posted that the HH - with the weekly or one-month packages that you found from Involvement Travel Inc. - would have been optimal for my wife and I, that was true, and that HPM would be cramped for 3 or more, also true, but be advised:
1) HH is also going to be just as cramped for 3 or more in the 2-bedroom suites; and
2) Even if you get past the cramped space issue and think that HH is better because you can have 4 registered vs. HPM with only 3, the HH 2nd bedroom is only a really skinny single with no way to actually get two kids in there. So, the only way it might work is if (a) one of your kids is small enough to sleeps on the HH sofa or (b) the HH sofa has a pull-out bed. As for an extra bed/cot in either the HH "main" or 2nd bedroom - I'd say no way. Really no room. Can any of the current HH residents confirm about the sofa - pull-out or not ?
3) my final suggestion is to look at taking two apartments next to each other at the HH because it still is cheaper than a place at the HPM. A lot more space - no fights over the TV - kids area vs. parents, quiet place for Mom to go and relax in eg. "breathing room" ... there could be some interesting side benefits to this !! If you are willing to afford the HPM for the three weeks, I'd also consider 2 rooms at HH as well. Maybe get rooms across the hall - then you can open up both doors and kind of keep an eye on things from the comfort of the sofa in your room.
Re: your other questions:
Location: HH is next to the Metropolis Mall. HPM is actually attached to the Met Mall.
Deal: If you go to HPM and they offer to give you an extra bed, and you have two little kids - like under 8 years old - you might find that don't need it. The sofa bed should be ok if they can sleep in the same bed. It's like one large twin. But it isn't a double.
Whampoa: HH - see other posts. HPM - shuttle to TST MRT every 20 mins. and return shuttle as well. As for a Whampoa shuttle - not sure, don't think so but check the HPM website. www.harbour-plaza.com and go to Metropolis - then Location.
Bay Bridge: Never went there. That's a way's out - but if your kids aren't going to school and your partner needs some space to let them run around, then apartments in the New Territories might be a good option. If your family needs a place to "live" and doesn't need to be close to Central or HKG island - then sure, look at Tsuen Wan, Shatin, Ma On Shan. You'll probably find similar facilities (pool etc..), more space and parks, more families (? not sure), more inconvenient travel to Central but cheaper price. If you have friends who live there - I think this is a big bonus if they are close-by and also have partners and kids too - I suggest to call them and ask them to go and see these places. They can tell you if it looks ok, where the closest supermarket is.. etc..
Good luck.
To anyone else - here's a good list of serviced apartment choices....
