Victoria Towers vs Metropolis vs Sheung Wan

I can't decide on which flat to go with.

Metropolis at hung hom station has a gorgeous open planned 1 bedroom (previously 2 bedroom) with decent views and price is 16k. However the location is nit that convenient for me as I often will take china ferry from HK or Kowloon side. Also the shops and restaurants are more localized, as well as limited grocers.

Victoria towers at Austin station is absolutely perfect location, but the flat itself is so-so. It's a little smaller, and tighter of a 2 bedroom. View is of all the construction at new promenade, so not much to look at. But this place has better kitchen and bathroom. This one is 18K.

I can't decide if I should go for location or for flat interior.
Also some have mentioned sheung wan has better prices then both.... But I would need to be close to western market. Anyone have a recommendation or what they would do?

I've actually stayed at both. The quality of construction at VT is abysmal. I stayed there for two years when it was brand new. By the time I moved out, it looked almost 10 years old. In contrast the Metro was of much nicer build. They both are Cheung Kong properties I believe, however, at Metro I think the place was originally intended to be a serviced apartment building for rental, but that changed and the units were sold off. That may explain why I found the build quality at Metro better.

So BB, you still haven't bought your flat? I recall 6 months ago you were looking at buying?

i would personally stay away from flats that are near construction sites... just think of all the construction work that will be going on specially the jackhammering noise and the dust that seems to go on forever including saturdays.

Mat.... Sadly no, I didn't buy. And now I need to move out quickly so trying to finalize a new rental somewhere more convenient for working in TW, hiking all over, and closer to more western restaurants/shops/grocers. I also wanted to be conveniently located for night life so that I may stop being so lazy and start hitting up some happy hours and other gatherings.

Star.... Yes, I am concerned about dust, less about noise since I'd be pretty high up.

Bloody.... Yes, metro was far nicer quality while VT looked ancient in comparison. But that's why it's a toss up on location and interior.

Have you considered Manathan Hill in Mei Foo. Nice building, not sure the prices now but convieniently located for TW and still good for going to Central/TST.

i did a search on Manhattan Hill and Olympic, and spoke with some agents, but the prices they were asking for were so similar to the price i was able to negotiate with VT agent that it was not worth it. thanks though.

i settled on VT yesterday...thanks for info.

    Hey Bender Bends,
I am moving to HK in the next few weeks. Working in Tsuen Wan, but looking for alot of the same things you are, and Budget is pretty much the same. Any tips beyond what was mentioned here? Can you pass me the info for you agent (assuming they were decent).
    Thanks.

I viewed an apartment on the 67th floor (of 70) at Victoria Towers yesterday, and was amazed at how much noise you still get from the construction work. Shame, it was nice apart from the jackhammers outside (and the filthy toilets, what's that about?)
