    Rent hike

After only 6 months in our apartment, we have been notified our management fees were being upped by 6%. Is that legal? Also, isn't there a law here where if your rent is upped, you can stay for one year in the appartment at the pre-up rate, before you have to move out. Or something like that? If anyone can clear this up for me, that would be great! Thanks.

Depends on what your contract says. Usually a price is locked for 2 years when you enter a contract...

If you agreed a rent that was inclusive of management fees then it's the landlord's problem. If the contract is based on aa rate of $X + management fees then it's your problem.

The pre-rent-change thing was only applicable as a transitional arrangement to certain contracts signed before a law change a few years ago. It doesn't apply in your case for a contract signed within the last year.
