    Apartment - dangerous building work

I've signed up a standard rental lease 3 weeks ago, was planning to move in on monday.

Now I've recieved a letter addressed to the landlord (no envelope for some reason) from the hk building authority saying the building work they carried out had not been pre approved and they have to reinstall what there was before.

i suspect they removed part of the external wall since the front window is almost ceiling to floor.

what should i do? find another place or hang around hoping they'd agree something with the authorities?

need to figure out what to do quickly as the current place i'm in will last just two more weeks.

    should i get a lawyer?

MFC, you might need some legal advice / leverage. Since the structure has been deemed illegal and needs construction, there is no way you could really move in there and live there without safety issues.
