olympic will do you fine if you want a five minute commute. for 12k you have some options, especially if living a little further from mtr such as metro harbourview.

soul-less? give me a break. this is hong kong. you just ain't gonna get too much soul. jordan has soul? good lord. crazy busy roads, no parks and run down tenements is what classes as soul these days?

Have u considered Lohas Park? It is a tad further but it is right @ Lohas Park subway and you get hotel like living @ half the price of most other rentals. This is HK best kept secret and I see more and more expatriates are moving in. For $13-$15 K a month, you can rent 3 br almost 1,000 sf and the compound is as " green" as you can get in HK. There's 24 hr concierge, club house, free newspaper,sauna... You name it the have it. These buildings are brand new or a couple yes old, built by the richest man in Asia and managed by the excellent MTR team. My husband and I just love it here.
