Smile From Shek O to Tai Tam or Shau Kei Wan?

I willcbe moving to Big Wave Bay in a few weeks. School buses run to and from Shau Kei Wan or Tai Tam/Stanley. Which is closer? Any bus service from Shek O to Tai Tam? In Tai Tam, the pickup point is Parkview or Manhattan.

I will be new to HK and I have no idea how far between those areas. Since my children will school right away, I need advice! Thanks.

What school? If HKIS, going to SKW would be backwards so Tai Tam would be better. But if it is the high school campus the Manhattan is further from Shek O than the school on the same route so it would make sense to just go directly to the school. If the Repulse Bay campus, the Manhattan pick up point is what you would want. Going to Parkview makes no sense, its out of the way on top of a hill with no public bus access on the other side of Repulse Bay so don't worry about that option.

I assume you HAVE a place in a school? If not start a thread on that asap. Much more difficult to sort than buses.

Yes, I checked if there is seat. I am thinking of Woodland Harbourside or Beachside. Southside Kindergarten also has a seat but as my son is not yet completely clean, I omit that option. My other son will go to FIS and they also have bus service to Tai Tam and Shau Kei Wan. I want to pick them both up in the same place or somewhere close to each other. If I go to Shau Kei Wan, will it be the backward to Repulse Bay or Aberdeen??

I think you need to get a map of HK Island and study it. Might help you.

Big Wave Bay is a really strange choice if you have multiple kids to get to international schools. What made you choose there? You clearly haven't looked at a map of HK Island!

It is quite easy to go to Shau Kei Wan from Big Wave Bay actually. There are shuttle buses connecting to the bus to Shau Kei Wan. It seems kids in the village go to schools in Happy Valley, Causeway Bay, Tai Koo, etc. We need to get a car or find a driver for a while, though. I like this place, it is quite relaxing and people are so nice! I have a headache and my eyes get itchy whenever I get inti the town, so finally it looks like we made the right choice. My sons are happy going to the beach or hanging out in the village and in Shek O. We can actually see the stars at night and even swim in Shek O. The problem is how to bring my smaller son to school... I have to find a way to do it.

you should look at Red Hill Plaza for the little one. Woodlands and Tutor Time are both there. You could drop bb off there ON THE WAY to Manhattan pickup point for the older ones.

BTW, what does " not completely clean' mean??

    Hi,

I am French and have just moved in to Big Wave Bay beginning November. Same situation as yours. One child in Tai Tam Montessori - takes school bus from Big Wave Bay direct. One child in FIS, Jardine Lookout campus. Still haven't figured out how to bring the second one to FIS. Just bought a car. Looking for a helper.

Please send me a PM, maybe we can help each other out.

    Olivier

You would need to check with the school what the bus route is that they drive. Sunshine Tai Tam doesn't (or didn't in the past) have a bus to Shek O or Big Wave. Not sure about Woodlands and/or Tutor Time at Red Hill. Those would be your best bets. QBS has a bus to Big Wave and Shek O since it's their catchment, but other than that no idea. Agree with PP, with the preschools on the south side, you may be better off with PV and Manhattan which is just another 3 minutes or so in the car.
