it can be very expensive, it can be very inexpensive, depends on where and what you want to eat.

It sounds weird for Baptist U to accept your oversea's studies here while they cannot provide student-hall to you.

BTW, the uni is in an expensive residential area in Kowloon and $6.5K for 5 months (which you do not have to worry about the internet fee, water/electricity/maintenance/whatsoever) is nothing you should resist if there're still offers.

For flat share under HK$4000, you could consider Taiwai/Shatin, which is within 2 train stations away from your uni. since there is anotehr uni there. I saw some posts about Cityone's flat-sharing. Good luck!

There were flat sharers from HKBU at the Grand Waterfront in To Kwa Wan when I lived there.

First, thank you to everyone who has posted! This information will be incredibly useful. Second, I'd just like to say that while I appreciate the sentiments, please do not get the wrong idea about HKBU's willingness to accommodate me. My application is late, and the halls have filled up, and they have still chosen to accept my application if I would like to find a place of my own to live. It is worth the experience, I believe, to study abroad in a place like Hong Kong for a semester even if I am eating the bare minimum and living on the cheap. I am a college student on scholarships; I'm used to doing all that anyway.

Would many places be willing to engage in a month-by-month rental? I can't lease, since I will only be there for 5 months.

So you're offering OP a 5 month lease?

i am hoping to find someone to stay for longer time in fact. the flat's renovation work has just been done and i am probing all possibilities to let this out. very nice unit in the heart of yaumati, convenient yet far from traffic noises.
