    Housing Allowance for Bachelor

Hello everyone! I'm a 24 yr old bachelor who will be moving to HK in January from good 'ole Texas, USA. I am being relocated by my company and will initially work in Zhuhai, China for a few months before moving to Hong Kong. I have been told I will be given a housing allowance of $10K HKD per month. My question is do you think this will be enough for a serviced/fully furnished apartment (furniture, bills paid, internet, cable) somewhere in Kowloon? I am a pretty simple person so i would not need more than a 1 bedroom place. Also, all I would require is a gym and maybe a pool because I am pretty fit (or at least try to be ). My company's office is in Kowloon Bay. I am looking for any recommendations really so It does not have to be Kowloon. Please let me know what you think. I thank you for your time!

Although I can't answer your question, just thought I'd let you know I am also from good ole' Texas, grew up in Dallas, went to school in Austin, and now in Houston. I'll be moving out there in the next month or so.

We should go get a drink together!

I just finished my own apartment shopping recently... and I think you should expect to pay 10-12k for something suitable. broadband/cabletv/etc are cheap in HK and you shouldn't expect to pay more than HKD$300 for the lot.

The property market is pretty insane right now so rentals are very high and in huge demand because most owners are preferring to cash in on their property investments instead of renting.

There are some decent looking places in Kowloon that arent too expensive like Tseung Wan O, Mei Foo & Lai Chi kok.
