I found this website had plenty of choice when i was looking recently. http://insightproperty.com.hk/

In the end though i found a flat share on the classifieds on this site.

If you're only looking for a 1-bed and are staying for a year you're often better off paying a few bucks for some cheap furniture from the likes of Ikea and giving them away or selling them when you leave rather than paying a higher price and/or severely limiting your choice by restricting your choice to furnished apartments.

Decent choice of walkup apartments in your price range in Soho, Noho. eg check out the agent on the corner of Staunton Street and Aberdeen.

Yes and pay 10000 for the privelige of contacting you! No thanks. The biggest scam in HK history is the property agent!

The IKEA route is exactly what I did as I don't know how long I will be here and between IKEA and Fortress (for cooking stuff) and PCCW for the phone and the great pots and pans offer for the landline - it was basically two stop shopping.

I saw some flat with furniture and for me with my wife having very high cleanliness standards I went for new, cost effective furniture from IKEA. I did a budget after a tour of IKEA and stuck with it.

When you leave you can offer your suite to someone to take over your lease but they must buy your furniture first. That was how I found the flat I am in now by responding to a personal ad with the building location not known. I was very likely going to do that but they had a friend who was first in line and I got a polite call saying that tenant was approved. But I learned how to do it. Luckily this building then had empty flats. Now I hear it is a waiting list.
