    Suitable for working in Central??

    Hi,

I moving to HK in a couple of months, and judging by the posts on here this place seems like a good option... I'm gonna be working in Central; what would the commute to like from here? I anticipate hours could be quite long, so don't wanna spend all evening travelling.

    Cheers!

    Let's form a residence group

I think we should work on forming a residence group as a get-to-know sesssions as well as discuss on issues.

    Any other advice?

    Thanks all
As i read your post; you are planning to move to hong kong, but i believed you've moved in already. So i'd like to ask; have your found any roommate in harbourfront yet? If not, shall we talk about it? Well, for more information; i'd like to live in Harbourfront because the surrounding is peace & quiet, clean at all times, mostly fresh air, as the location is near the seaside. And i love living in quiet & clean places. The montly rent price is fair enough, but i am still looking forward to live with a mature[not about the age, about the way he/she would think. hehe, i dont enjoy being around with immature people, if you know what i mean.] & friendly roommate, because i think it would be more fun to live with a great mate. Well that is all for now.

Thank you for your kindly attension!

Should we keep in touch, please feel free to email me at [email protected][Attn;Castro].

    Regards,
    Castro

Hey everyone, is there anyone that would rent a room for either a short period of time (under 1 month), or would consider a roommate for a 6 month term? I would also be open to a month to month basis if someone would want to try giving it a chance at first. I am a 35 yo male professional consultant from the US looking for a place around August 7th. If there is anyone interested, please just PM me and let me know how much you would be willing to rent out the room for. Thanks!

Hey for those of you that have internet at the Harborfront, does anyone know if you can use a VOIP phone with their internet service? I know that certain ports must be unblocked for it to work. If anyone knows the answer to this question, please let me know!

I use skype if that counts! If by VOIP you mean the small box that you connect to Internet and then you hook a regular phone to it, then I don't know the answer. Two years ago in a different apartment, but with the same provider, I had one of those boxes, from ZipGlobal, and it worked fine. These days I just use skype.

    VOIP

Ya I meant the VOIP with the box that you plug the phone into. I have a US number that I want to bring with me so that my friends can keep in touch with me while Im overseas. So when you get internet at the harborfront, is it via wired or wireless link? Is it fast?

I do not believe you will have any problem with your VOIP box. For Internet access, the hotel provides free wireless access in the lobby or you can get a wired connection in the apartment through Hutchison for HK$158 per month by signing a one year contract. They have other plans as well but at the time I signed up, this was the best offer.

As far as speed, I used the Vonage Internet Speed Test (VoIP Internet Phone Support: Vonage) a few minutes ago and I passed with the following result:

    Download Speed: 4615 kbps
    Upload Speed: 2838 kbps

I hope this answers your questions.
