I think the agent means safety in terms of electrical problems, and probably a lack of a security guard at the entrance. If neither of those bother you, and the rental level is good, go for you.

Well, obviously, it doesn't happen every single time you go to Causeway Bay. But it happens enough for people who live in the area to know of. There have been cases in the past of gangs of theives who operate at busy intersection at Causeway Bay. Since the more busy the street, the easier for them to "operate" and be less visible. But as to how exactly frequent it is, can't give you a definitive answer. So long as be cognizant of your wallet and valuables, you should be ok.
I mean, you don't need to be paranoid that a potential thief is around every corner, but just be aware that they are known to operate in Causeway Bay from time to time (and in Mongkok too).

aha are electrical fires common in the area? I guess you mean short circuits ? does anyone know. I currently live in a company paid flat in a fancy building and have just discovered black mold growing in my helper's room so much for the mega bucks being shelled out as rent!
In seven years I have never heard of a fire in this area.
Just because you live in a fancy building paying huge rent does not mean that the building is high quality. In fact most buildings in HK are built out of sand and piss with a lifespan of around 40 years. Try getting a mortgage for one over 40 yrs old and you will see what I mean, the banks are not stupid.
Of course there are pickpockets in a busy area like Causeway Bay, just like there are pickpockets on the London underground and Piccadilly Circus and in Paris.
Hold your wallet and phone in your hand, never keep in a pocket, and you will have no problem. Basic common sense.
