Recommendations on property agents and advice on HK apartments

    Hi All,

Would appreciated some advice on real estate agents/ apartment search. Moving to HK at the end of March, beginning of April, and looking for a 2 bedroom fully furnished, modern apartment preferably with a balcony/ view. Needs to be comfortable as I am planning on running a home office for a period of time. I am looking at Soho, Mid-Levels Central or Wanchai and prepared to spend up to HKD $30K/ month in rent.

Any advice on real estate agents that specialise in these sorts of places? Is this the best way to go about my search? I saw Insight Properties website and it seemed to fit the bill, but I am not one to trust photo's on the internet.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Nick

As you've not visited Hong Kong before, a couple of pointers:

    * Unfurnished is the norm.
    * Central and Soho - the view will be of someone else's flat/office. Sleep could be optional.
    * Agents tend to be based by area.

A couple of agencies, don't have the most economic properties, but they would cover the areas:

Visit Agents in Robinson Road. Ask them to show you units in Goldwin heights. This building meets your requirement. About 1,000 sq ft. 3 rooms+ 2 baths. Shuttle to the Central, Gym. Rent below $30K

Thanks for this, some good advice.

Understand unfurnished is the norm, will see what the agents can come up with. Otherwise may need to re-evaluate.

Good points, I was thinking of going back at night to see how noisy the places are.

    Cheers

Thanks, it is really good to have specific advice on which buildings to target. A lot of the rental sites have a search function for buildings, so will check out Goldwin Heights.

    Thanks for the help

    Cheers

Hi Dazed. I have used and highly recommend "Homefinders in Hong Kong", their Agents are Expats who have been living here for a long time and really understand the housing market for Expats, and would only show units that meet an Expat's expectations in clean renovated bathrooms and kitchens. Whereas when I tried local Agents, they just showed me any units that meet my budget without pre-screening, and some units were disgusting, a waste of my time. Below is their link:
