That would be nice, but the airfare is alot for round trip from here. We might be able to come out a month or so before my wife starts work. Serviced apartments sound great, but sounds like most will not take dogs. Maybe we will be able to find a short term furnished apartment or something while we look. I agree that one week is not nearly enough time, especially with all the places there are to see. One month sounds more reasonable if we can work it out.

If you are going to take a serviced apartment, then the chances are you will be close to/in the city.

If you have a "nice" dog, one that doesnt bark too much, bite, crap all over etc etc, I know this family in Happy Valley, they have 3 kids and 2 dogs, they might be able to help you out for a week or 2 while you settle into your new life in your new city.

I also know of this really nice couple out in SaiKung that run a dog-kennel-hotel type of outfit. For a reasonable fee, they could also take your dog.

Let me know what you decide closer to the date and we'll see if we can work something out. Good luck with your decisions and move headaches.

What kind of dogs are they by the way? Large "outdoor" types, or smaller "indoor" breeds?

Medium sized, or at least medium to me. 50 lbs. blue heeler/american eskimo. She's mostly an indoor dog though she will need 2-3 good walks/runs per day. Here, she only barks when she sees the mailman or solicitors come into the yard, or someone rings the bell. I assume that with no window or yard to protect she will not bark much in the apartment.

I appreciate the offer Howard, i might call you up on it as we get closer, though hopefully we can keep her with us as she mopes when we leave her with others.

Carang, i will keep you in mind as well. =)

Sounds like a beautiful dog. 2-3 walks a day, with a nice longer walk/hike in the weekends might be the way to go then.

I think there is a seperate chain on Geo about serviced apts in HK that allow dogs. Also, be very careful if you ever walk your dog along Bowen Road - there is a notorious dog poinsoner who operates around there - something you will hear more of when you have moved here.

Love the bit about solicitors coming into the yard PS - here in HK, a "solicitor" is usually understood as being what you would refer to in the US as a lawyer or attorney...

I thought about that when i wrote it, but was too lazy to delete and rewrite as salespeople. Crossed my fingers and hoped my american slang would be understood. =)

Ha ha - well it was quite amusing, as there a number of solicitors who post here, thus conjuring up images of your dog chasing them...
