    Accomodation Advice

    Hello All,

We are moving to Hong Kong in the summer (I have posted previously on Harbourview) and wanted to know if anyone could give me any advice and/or recommendations on where to live for a budget of about 18,000HKD per month? We dont have any kids or pets! Any help would be really appreciated!

    Thanks
    Jordan

We will be in the new territories but dont mind a commute (maybe 30 minutes at most) and we prefer doing things on the weekend. We have looked at serviced and furnished apartments as we are coming from the UK and it will be easier to settle in straight away.
    Thanks for replying so soon

The New Territories area covers a lot more than 30 minutes commuting, so you'll have to be rather more specific about location ... for instance, if you are working in Tung Chung but living in Tai Po you'll already be waaaaay over 30 minutes commute already.

Jordz21 if you really want some good advise, be a bit specific.

Where I live Clear water bay is New Territories, Tuen Mun is New Territories as well but a big difference in Distance.

Ps even if you get a place that is unfurnished, its quite cheap to get Ikea or Price rite stuff, they will last you 2 years and wont cost you an arm or leg so you can throw them away when you move on.

    Hi,
Sorry for being a bit vague, the school we are working at is on the Hau Tsuen Road in Yuen Long, NT.
    Thanks for the replies folks

That will be a bitch of a commute, from dB to Yuen Long....

If you work in Yuen Long, why not look at places in Yuen Long, Teun Mun (Gold Coast area)

Any reason why you choose DB? The commute from DB to Yuen Long will take at least 1.5 hours one way involving the ferry, bus and MTR (and not to mention the travelling cost). You said you would be working in a school. Most schools in HK start very early ie the teachers at my son's school usually get in before 7.30am. If you choose DB you will need to leave home 6am the latest. Ouch!

The ferry to DB is 1500 per month. Add the MTR on top and thats expensive.

For Yuen Long. Look in Yuen Long, or somewhere on the west rail line. Tsuen Wan West is nice. Olympic station too.

Are you coming on the government NET scheme?
