    Accommodation Advice

    Hi All,

    My wife and I are looking to rent a place from 25th September. I would like some help on areas that we should focus our search on based on the following:

    • Budget 10k-13k;
    • Needs to be 30 mins from Whampoa Garden, Hung Hom;
    • Ideally two bedrooms and furnished;
    • With decent transport links to Central.

    We will be in Hong Kong for at least a year and are open to short-term leases/Sublets etc as long as they fit into the above criteria.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    -Af

    You are working with a fairly tightish budget. You are going to have a very difficult time with your "furnished" requirement. I'd suggest forgetting that ASAP.

    Skip the furnished--you can outfit your place from the classifieds here for pennies on the dollar.

    Are schools an issue yet? Is there a chance for long term? Which is a more important commute--a straight shot to Whampoa Garden or a straight shot to Central?

    Look at Hang Hau, KMB Bus 297 goes to Hung Hum but apparently it takes 60 mins for the 19.9KM Journey WTF

    HowardCombs- The furnished bit was a preference, not essential.

    penguinsix - straight shot to Whampoa Garden is the more important commute. Schools aren't an issue yet and there is a chance for longer term.

    Wtbhotia - thanks I will check out Hang Hau, it does seem far out.

    Thanks all

    Had a look at Tai Wai too. There are lots of places here which may fit in your budget but not furnished.

    I did an Ikea run for my flat and spent very little in all honesty

    Whampoa / To Ka Wan.

    Plenty of choices there for that price/size (ebut not furnished most likely).
    Since you are in Sheung Wan, suggest you go to To Ka Wan, pick a real estate agent and tour around.

    Yeah, if you want to be within 30 minutes of Hung Hom then look in Hung Hom, plenty of older buildings in the less well known parts of Hung Hom that would most likely meet you budget. If you don't like what you see then work your way out from there.
