Bigger apartments are plentiful. And expensive.

Yes it is common but the subdivided flat shown, if in say Kowloon is probably around 3 to 5,000 a month. In New Territories it will be less.

Larger apartments are everywhere and a reasonable apartment in Kowloon will be about 8,000 to 10,000 a month.

We could never afford this outside of Tung Chung. Anyway it's big enough. I would go smaller if we could, less work and never really use 2 of the rooms.

Where do I live? or where do I spend in time in SS? I live outside tai po and travel through SS often, run there, shop there, have friends there.

    why do you ask?

I will live in SS soon enough. Maybe we have seen each other at the only western bar in town.

So it seems that 37% live in 500 to 800 sq. ft. flats, while 22% live in flats that are 1,500 sq. ft and above. Are the former earning a local salary, and the latter here on a fat expat package?

The remaining 40% seems to be spread out quite evenly.

Has it ever occurred to you that some people just earn more money than others? Seriously? You really do ask the most bizarre questions.

I have local friends, semi-retired, who live in a huge (at least 1500 sq ft) place above Happy Valley with super views. Why? Because they purchased it 20+ years ago. I have a friend who is a teacher who earns over 30k a year but lives in a 600sq ft place in NT with family (1 kid) - why? Because they are frugal. People are ALL DIFFERENT. Some earn more. Some earn less. Some save. Some don't. Some care about space. Some don't. You really can't make gross generalisations. Plenty of locals here earn a packet because they just have good jobs! Just like every other place on earth.
