Where to live for a non-sweaty, air conditioned commute to Central?

I will be relocating to HK and working in Central; I've heard all about the summer humidity; simply put - I sweat A LOT.

Any suggestions for a place to live (ideally with a gym close by) with a non-sweaty commute where most of the walking can be done through air-conditioned indoor or underground pathways, malls or MTR stations?

My office building is directly connected to Central station, although sadly it doesn't seem like the building has a residential section : (

I'm a single guy on a budget of 18K; any buildings in Sheung Wan, Central, Mid-Levels, Wan Chai that might fit the description?

Olympic Station might be a good fit - Since most of the estates are connected directly to the MTR station.

Anywhere from Olympic to North Point would give you a nice easy air-conditioned commute.

Suggest you take the usual advice. Get a serviced apartment for the first month and decide for yourself where you want to live, it's down to personal taste. Everyone will tell you the area they live is 'the best'.

Any of those places you listed would be fine, except mid-levels, you will get sweaty...unless you really want to pretend you are still at home and live your life in a little expat bubble round the escalator.

hung hom has metropolis residence, very convenient, Kowloon has expensive apartments as well, main thing, is that do have a social life involving clubbing and bars on regular basis, if yes, stay on hk island

why not check where are physical gyms ( most number of branches) are located ( most of them close or connected by mtr) and make your decision from that.

    not for 18k it won't

plus, no matter where you are - you will sweat. Even standing on the train platform is enough. Live with it. Embrace it even. Because you will never beat it.

you can also use some of the tricks that the locals are using to combat sweat:
    - walk reeeaaalllllly really slow
    - walk longer ways if they happen to be airconditioned in return
    - eat cooling foods (water melon, winter melon, etc)
    - drink cooling chinese medicine teas: you can get the one-off ones on the roadside, or order them online for continuous supply (Chinese Pearl Barley/Jobs Tears is specifically recommended http://www.orientalbalance.com/shop)

Load of rubbish saying you have to live on the island if you want a bar/clubbing social life.

Aside from that, Hung Hom isn't terribly convenient for Central as you have a fair walk between stations or waiting at a bus stop. Hung Hom MTR platforms and adjacent walkways aren't air-conditioned if that is your primary concern, there are better places.

How about mid levels near or next to the travelator. That way, you can walk downhill or take the travelator downhill ( unless you work after 10am when it goes uphill) into central.

It's not air-conditioned. And mid-levels is expensive and awful

If you sweat a lot you'll be soaked just from 5 minutes outside. My advice, cut out caffeine, alcohol, wear undershirt and take small towels to work....everyone sweats here...get over it and live where you want.
