Lease start dates for advertised properties?

I'm moving to HK permanently in mid-July, so I've been looking at apartment listings online.

My question is: When an agent lists an apartment online, does that mean that it is immediately available (or pretty close to immediately) or should I assume that it's available at the end of the month unless otherwise stated?

Also, any other general advice on my moving plan would be greatly appreciated.
I'm planning to fly in a week before I start work, stay with a friend and go find an agency and do nothing but look for apartments that week. I'm looking for a 1-bedroom place for around 15K/month in Midlevels Central or West. I'm pretty familiar with the area, and travelling around HK Island.

Apartments advertised for rent are vacant, ready for immediate move in - unless otherwise stated.

For your budget you should have little problem finding what you need. Having recently looked at the Island market for a move back in the near future ( I live in NT ) there are a LOT of apartments being redeveloped in older ( but services and building infrastructure renovated ) walk ups in Western and Quarry Bay.

A 3 bed , brand new outfitted unit comes in at less than 10K but you need someone with Chinese language skills and hunt down the smaller agencies in the area to find them.
