Quarry Bay has pretty direct access to the country parks, which are great for getting some fresh(er) air and clearing your mind. You could also probably get some nice views from a flat there. There's even a very expatty East Island Market on Sundays there.

That does sound rather nice Elegiaue. I'll probably be making a pre-move trip later this month and I'll certainly check out Quarry Bay.

Just a follow-up on what we're doing: we are currently in a serviced apartment in Wan Chai, and really liking the area around Queen's Road East. We also really like Sheung Wan. So we are looking at apartments in these 2 areas - The Zenith (for the location and view) and Hollywood Terrace (for the space) have been our favourites thus far. We are talking to brokers and looking at other buildings as well.

We have also looked in North Point and next we plan to check out Tin Hau and Sai Yin Pung.

A final follow-up: we saw around 60 apartments and finally picked a small 2 bedroom in the Zenith in Wan Chai. The biggest reason was proximity to the MTR and that we liked the Queens Road East area.

We also really liked Hollywood Terrace in Sheung Wan but the extra commute time to work (Taikoo Shing) worked against it. And the building we liked most was Lime Habitat - but the steep climb up the hill and also the area around it worked against it.

Just thought I'd post this here in case anyone was wondering what we finally selected.

And thank you all very much for your help.

The rent was close to the budget I had specified.

Size: 660 sq feet gross, approximately 500 sq feet net.

Yup - so far it's been good. The location is excellent and the building is new enough. But the size of the apartment is tiny.
