    Cool Recommendations in Sheung Wan/Wan Chai/Olympic , budget 10-13k ?

    Hi all,

Relocating to HK recently, office in Cheung Kong Center.

I'm a 24 year single guy looking for a studio or an apartment around HKD10-13k. I've been looking at some places in Kennedy Town but most of them are either too expensive or too old.

Now I have 2 options: 1. share an apartment with a flatmate and find a decent place in HK island (such as Sheung Wan, K Town, Wan Chai) 2. find a relatively cheap and far place in Olympic mtr.

Would welcome any recommendations and advise on suitable areas/buidlings.

BTW, Does anyone know if it's convenient to commute bewteen CK center and Olympic mtr.

    Thanks!

Can't help on accommodation other than suggesting the usual websites and facebook groups.

The commute between CK Centre and Olympic isn't a problem. Get MTR to HK Station, walk from HK Station to Central (they are connected) and then it's one stop to Admiralty which is where your office is. It will probably take about 20 minutes from train to train.

Edit - 17 minutes according to the MTR planner

Close to Olympic MTR you are not going to find many places for 13K unless you are willing to flat share. Perhaps some of the older buildings such as Charming Garden or Hoi Ming Court would fall into your budget. Alternatively you could check out Hampton Place or also Metro Harbour View.

There's plenty of older flats in Tai Kok Tsui around the 10k mark.

I saw a lot of flats around 12k in Metro Harbour View on the agency website, but I don't know, this is a relatively old buidling? why is it cheap?

By the way, what places are you referring to in terms of "close to Olympic MTR"? I'd love to have some names and take a look

    Thanks!

Thanks! That's what I've been told too. Transportation I think is not a very big problem since my job is not very time sentitive.

Ok, let me clarify. The OP referred to Olympic MTR, hence my post regarding complexes in the Olympian complex or very close by. Tai Kok Tsui is an older area and completely different in character from Olympian City. Yes the southern part of Tai Kok Tsui is quite close to Olympic MTR and if the OP is interested he can take a walk around the area, contact some agents and look at some apartments in that area.

Metro Harbour View is a big complex built in 2003. It has 10 towers and a large clubhouse. The reason it is cheaper is because it is further away from Olympic MTR station (hence less convenient) and many of the apartments are smaller than those in the Olympian area. It does have its own bus stop and there is a frequent minibus service to Mong Kong East MTR station.

The estates which are closest to the Olympic MTR station are Florient Rise, Island Harbour View, Central Park and Park Avenue. Harbour Green is a little bit further away as are Long Beach, Hampton Place, One Silversea etc etc. None of these estates will have apartments within your budget (I believe, anyone on here feel free to correct me).

That's really helpful! Seems I cannot get convenience and cheap price at the same time.

Is it possible to share a flat with my friend in estates in Olympian area such as Florient Rise/Island Harbour View/Hermitage, with such a budget and a spacious bedroom?

I've visited 2-bedroom apartments in K-town and both bedrooms are really small. I know flats in Olympic area are much more spacious than in HK island but I havent visited one. I am quite a tall guy (around 187cm) so I don't know if those bed rooms can fit in a 2m*1.2m king size bed along with a small table or so. And I don't know if the two bedrooms in one flat vary a lot in size cuz I know some of the apartment have same-size apartments.

    Thanks!

Yes correct - sorry didn't notice that before! The nearest station is indeed Central. My wife used to do that commute from Olympic - took around 30 minutes door to door (and she walks slowly).
