Tuen Mun would be another option...there is an airport bus, the E33 I think it is...plenty of folks commute from Tuen Mun to the airport.

The other options are the tall apartments near tung chung MTR but they seem to be small in size and a bit costlier.

If not Tung chung then is there any other place on the MTR line which would be within half an hour's commute to cathay city.
The villages you mentioned, such as Shek Mun Kap et al are fine, but you will have to walk a distance to the road to catch a bus. Try also South Lantau - I recommend contacting Home Solutions in Mui Wo, as Sth Lantau is home to many people who work at Cathay City. Transport is fine. There are regular buses and an Airport Bus the A35 which tends to cater for the airport workers. Rents vary, so check out HS, or Findley Leung. There is a Home Solutions in Tung Chung.
