Lohas park or Park Island (Ma Wan)

    Hi everyone,

I have been looking around and found 2 areas that are suitable for our budget; LOHAS park and Park Island. I know that the apartments in LOHAS park are cheaper than at Park Island, however there is absolutely nothing there at the moment except for clubhouse facilities. I know that for shopping, there is one tiny Wellcome and that's pretty much it. And that it takes a while to walk to the MTR station. However, I believe that when it will be completed there will be a huge shopping mall in the center and many more facilities. So I am wondering whether it is worth to move to LOHAS park now and wait for the completion of the project, or alternatively, move to Park Island instead. I have heard that Park Island it is a quiet and clean place to live, with plenty of facilities for residents to use, and that there is a ferry that takes about 20 minutes to reach Central.
To sum it up, I'm wondering if it will be worth the wait to move to LOHAS park and wait for the completion of the project, or move to Park Island instead.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, we've been waiting 10 years for that "shopping mall" on Lohas Park.

Park Island would be a better bet in my opinion.

Isn't the project set for completion in 2020?

    So you're buying or renting?

If you're renting then doesn't make sense what's gonna happen 3+ years from now.

Lohas park has traditionally lost value in property prices. It isn't well perceived with the locals as they associate it with the garbage dump. Whether it's true or not is up for debate but I wouldn't want to buy a place that locals don't like. After all it's their money I'm after when I go to sell any property.

Park Island property values are good and have room to go up more. It is well perceived with many.

Project completion doesn't mean a mall is ready. The mall usually opens much later. Look at Yoho Mall for example.

There are shops and supermarkets. I think you just were not looking. I've been there a couple of times. Has excellent transport links considering the location - there are buses as well as the ferries so it's not as badly hit by bad weather as some ferry places. Everyone I know who lives there loves it. I would certainly have considered it had I known about it when I moved here.
