    mortgage confirmation letter

So I have finally bought a flat and a bank got back to me saying the mortgage application has been approved.

I said I would have to talk the offer with my husband and he said sure, he would email me the details of the offer i.e. interest rate. I said fine.

We decided not to go with the offer but today I got a CONFRIMATION LETTER in my email. The person said sign it and fax it back.

    What? Is there a miscommunication?

So what happens if I don't sign it? Will I be penalised for it?

    Any help is appreciated!

i think this is just their offer letter. by signing it, you would be confirming the mortgage arrangement so don't sign if you are not intending to go with this mortgage offer.

check the small print of your application form, but there should be no charges if you do not accept the offer.
