I moved into my apartment about two months ago. Last week I noticed a crack in a wall mirror that is sealed against the wall, not hanging. I definitely did not damage this mirror in any way and think maybe there was a defect and a really small crack that went unnoticed and now has expanded. I think the crack reflects this as well. If I did damage it then yes,according to my contract I would pay for the costs, which I understand.

My landlord thinks I should pay for the repair cost because I was possibly careless or neglectful with this mirror. I insisted to her I was not and suggested we get it professionally inspected to resolve the issue.

If she doesn't believe me or doesn't want to pay for inspection, and insist it's my fault, what could I do next? She has my deposit and I am concerned she may use it for the repair cost.
