Guys, one more question (actually never really paid attention to this before and now a bit stressed about MY situation ;-)).

They were asking me what was the normal rental agreement. Checking mine I noticed that it was 12 months fixed + 1 month notice....I always thought it was 12 months + 2 months notice but can't find the info on the web...any pointed appreciated! thanks

Mat, wouldn't it be what you can negotiate as to 2 months or 1? Of course depending on the landlord. Or is the notice period in law here? Sorry while you posted that I was telling my red blob story so am amending this to not lose your question.

I got a red blob for saying Sheung Wan is a good location. It is a bit surprising as I find this is a very convenient location to get most places where I need to go for meetings and to do so via bus, mtr, taxi or even walking which I like to do. Hollywood where I live just off of has many taxis and is cheap to Central, Admiralty, etc other than if traffic is bad. Even great to get to the airport by bus!

    The red blobber thinks this:

"Sheung Wan is a great location ? You need an optical exam, or a crash course in better residential taste lol No clue"

    12 + 1 is very common.

The blob actually turned out looking grayish so this might be a clue as to who your blobbing buddy is.

Sometimes possible to negotiate... for example, we had one flat in Sheung Wan a couple years back where the contract was 12 + 1 on our side, but 12 + 12 for the landlord.

So, she could not kick us out for the entire two years, but we could decide to stay or leave as we pleased!
