    New Territories advice

    Hello all

We are moving to HK at the end of the month and I have to find us a house. We want to be near to the beach and out of the hustle and bustle. I have been looking mainly at Discovery Bay as this seems to tick all the boxes of a good family place to settle but have noticed on the gohomehk website adverts for Gold Coast & Vista Cove. Do any of you live in / have experience of this part of the new territories?

    thanks

movingin07 lives in the marina in GC, you could send her a PM and i'm sure she'd be happy to answer your questions.

There are multiple threads on The Gold Coast, for example: http://www.geoexpat.com/forum/thread69043.html

Gold Coast is quite far away ! Maybe also check Sham Tseng or Park Island (Ma Wan) - Discovery Bay I would not suggest - ferry fare is extremely high.

Or add the likes of Clearwater Bay to your list of places to investigate.

All the villages along Clearwater Bay Road, from the circle towards the Country Club are worth looking at. Some of them are within walkable distance from beaches and there are hiking trails everywhere. It is very green and quiet and within arm's reach of an MTR station (Hang Hau). The commute from there into Central is not bad at all, although HK'ers will tell you it's far. It's not far, compared to other cities in the world. Only around 25 minutes.

There are a lot of posts regarding Gold Coast, here's another one, ignore the rent prices though, as they aren't relevant in 2010.

    thank you all.

we have started to look at Clearwater Bay - it is beautiful and seems to be what we are after. Does anyone know of a good estate agent that we can contact? I have contacted a few via gohome but they are not always very easy to communicate with. I tend to get sent a lot of properties that are quite a bit under the price range we are looking at and are miles away from the area we want.

There you go, a pretty comprehensive list of who to deal with, regarding real estate agencies in the Sai Kung District, which CWB falls under.
