Exclamation Help Please! Cats / Taekwando

I am a single girl moving to HK from UK in October with two cats!!

I am hoping that I can get a bit of advice to get me started. I am coming over for a week in September and am hoping to be able to secure an apartment then so I can move straight in in October.

    1. I am looking for a bigger apartment preferably with a large balcony, terrace or (very) small garden for the cats. I know I won't be able to afford this on HK island. I am looking at Lantau - any advice good apartmemts to rent? Or other areas with a good commute to Central.

    2. I am looking to start Taekwondo in HK, I have only found one website for WTF style but it is in Cantonese, any one with any knowledge of clubs?

    3. Where is the best place to buy cat food and cat litter?

    Thanks

For information on Taekwondo you can try sending a e-mail to the Hong Kong Taekwondo Association.

As for cat food and cat litter there are plenty of pet shops around. Or you can buy them at the supermarket.

Supermarket pet food is awful! Pet shops can have better brands, but sometimes they're not easy to find. Try online! They will even deliver for free with orders over 300HKD:

IMO you want something with a garden. How about Lamma? I wouldn't suggest letting cats out on the balcony. Friend of the family lost her cat when it jumped off...

WTF TKD is all over Hong Kong. It is the most popular style here.

The problem with that is most clubs will be cantonese - iut hey, what a great way to get used to the language. And lets face it, when doing line work you just do what everyone else does. I would also doubt that a club on the Island WOULDN'T have at least a few English speakers to help you out.

I'm not a big fan of the supermarket cat-food either. You can find basic brands such as Whiska's, Mon Petit, Friskies at the supermarket. However, if you're looking for higher quality brands you'll need to go to a pet store. There's many decent pet stores that carry IAMs, Solid Gold, Eukeneba...a couple I use are Mid-Levels Pet Store (on Mosque Street), Bubble Bath Pet Store (on Wellington Street). For more "specialized" brands such as Natural Balance you'll need to go on-line as the other poster mentioned. Megapet.com.hk has an English website you can use for this (unfortunately allot of on-line stores are Chinese only).

Thank you this is all go info. I did look at the online stores but the english site for one of them is still under construction. I will try megapet.com.

Also for the TKD, I am quite happy to be in a cantonese class but would like to know how I can find out where the clubs are...

    THanks

Thank you Nina_70. I have had a look at Megapet and it sells the food I feed them already and they have a store HK side.

    Thanks that's a great help.
