Apply to study in HK from UK

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum so please bare with me. First off, here's some info about myself:
I'm a 25 year old BBC (British Born Chinese) and I've always wanted to move to HK.
For my education, I only finished Secondary School (I think that's known as High School in the US) with 6 C's in GCSE.
I've had tons of work experience; Part time from the age of 16-18, then full time from 18-25 in different sectors of customer service related jobs (2 years of which includes Public Relations/Marketing).
I'm currently studying my 120 Hours TEFL course.

I've always wanted to go back to studying but hate the thought of staying in the UK for another 3+ years. Does anyone have any information/experience with studying in HK starting from college level? Is there such thing as a "Mature students course" like they have here in the UK? I would like to study either Teaching or Marketing.

Also, will I be allowed to work (even if it's part-time) on a student visa?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

You could do something like a Higher Diploma I would have thought, through the VTC for example. Do you speak Cantonese though? Then top up to a degree. Might take longer than 3 years though.

You can get a visa if you are studying full time as long as you can show you have the finances to do this. It is possible to work but the restrictions are tight and only apply to very limited types of work (info on the immigration website), much more so than in the UK. If I were you I would assume for financial planning that you would not be able to work.

Thanks hullexile for the info... Do you know of any websites I can visit for Diploma courses in HK please? I can speak fluent Cantonese but can only read/write basic Chinese.

I will be financially stable but would like to work part-time just for some extra pocket money and to keep myself extra busy as I'm a "non-stop" kind of person

    VTC

Courses are theoretically in English but a lot of spoken Cantonese in the classes, so being able to speak and understand would be sufficient.

    Also PolyU

Not that cheap to study as an overseas student in HK though. At PolyU is is HK$80000 a year for a full-time Bachelor's Degree programme.

You would not begin to believe how deeply offensive these self imposed phuqing labels are.

I'm not here to offend anyone. However, many people in the UK (and I'm sure in other countries) use the label "BBC, ABC CBC" etc and not once have I heard of it being offensive. But I'm sorry you feel that way

The only group of people that feel the need to announce their ethnicity and where they were born.
On the one hand apparently being Chinese is special because you are Chinese in a foreign land but on the other you are special because you are born overseas not the Mainland.

    I've never heard of:
    SBB (Siberian Born British)
    UBJ (Ukraine Born Jew)
    ZBC (Zaire Born Caucasian)
    VCBH (Vatican City Born Hetrosexual)
    ..or such, for example.

So I'm constantly amazed that Chinese overseas have to announce themselves in this way; snobbery - that's all it is.
