ABC/BBC/CBCs that move back to Hong Kong

Are we a big community in Hong Kong ? I'm certainly going to be one once I have no more obligation in Canada. I'm just wondering if there are many people that fall under this category.

Just University. I'm also working fulltime soon so once that is all done, I'm going to settle in Hong Kong when I have the right means of supporting myself while looking for a job.

My interpretation was that the OP wasn't planning to live in Canada anyways, so what's the point of paying taxes if you're not resident?

Back to the original question, you definitely won't be alone, there's tons of xBC's over here, and paying less taxes is just one reason why that's the case.

You bet. The taxes here are so heavy, it's not funny. If you make six figures a year, the government will take almost half of that. I don't really like paying 15% tax for all goods either.

How is it like in Hong Kong ? I know there's nothing like free health care but do they have income tax as well ?

Taxes are riduculously simple compared to the forms back in Canada; income taxes top off at ~16% (I don't even remember) for the top bracket, although you have to pay a yr in advance it looks like a lot on your initial payments, but its a lot more fair than what you're getting back home. Of course you get what you pay for, so don't expect a generous healthcare system. Employers have an MPF scheme similar to what Canada has, otherwise GST is being talked about in the coming years. Let's hope it's just talk...
