Then they charge for dismantling an item and claim on the day it's not required, but don't deduct the dismantle charges. We moved 3 times in HK and Ika is the worst experience. They also broke a shelf in wardrobe which they tried to hide by taping it together and kept quiet about the matter. When I unpacked and hung my clothes that night it collapsed altogether. They ignore our calls/ messages. Unprofessional conduct. Watch them carefully as they move your items if you still want to use them. Buyer beware.
I have found over the years that most local moving companies bid very low, and then try to add extra charges - after everything is packed then they start, they complain, looking for extra cash "tips". One time the staff complained to me directly that the boss doesn't pay them, etc. etc. So I would never accept quote until the mover has visited, seen the furniture, and given written quote without tips........ Having said that I fully expect that the next time i move the company will still claim they need extra 'tips'

Do you want wrapping and packing or just moving? I use the same guy everytime. He has a 5.5 ton truck and if just him moving the stuff I pay 1k, no time limits or other bs, multiple stops ok within reason (e.g. on the way).

If you need a second guy then I think I paid 2k (moved pretty much entire house furniture, not small items). If very heavy stuff then prob a bit more.

If you are still looking for a mover, I've used Power Removal twice (local company), and find the staff to be friendly and quite reasonable prices. They were recommended to me by a friend and were good enough for me to use them a second time. PM me for the contact info.

    Recommended Moving Companies

Hi, I was reading an old thread in which you mentioned two different moving companies that were good and affordable. Would you be able to PM me the contact details of the two companies you are referring to? Thanks!
