    The EL Sucks

The EL is horrific. Living in Chicago for four years has culminated my hate for it and more appreciation for my motorcycle and bicycle. I was riding with my cousin who's new to Chicago and we probably experienced the worst the EL could offer with a combination of diseased vomit on the floor, a winter's load of grime, drunk frat boys talking about date rape, a crackhead, and somebody eating a greasy sandwich. Ah, the sites, sounds, and the smells of a century old, corrupt, decrepit public transportation system which gets many many millions sunken into it, yet no noticeable improvements.

However, has anyone noticed that part of Hong Kong smells like it has an open sewer system? I swear, sometimes there's a nauseous funk here in certain parts.

there's always pros and cons. The HK transit sys is overburdened, crowded and not ideal for those keen on privacy and space.

as for nuisances, that too is very local. yes, in CHG you get more hobo-like people and overt aggression, in HKG it's the passive aggressive treatment with constant phone/PSP/DS noise and nail clipping.
